Chris Smith leads technology at Sigma Tax Pro as a National Software Consultant, responsible for the platforms and infrastructure that keep cloud based tax offices online and e-files moving during the highest volume weeks of the year. His work spans deployment across the SIGMA software line, the desktop and cloud environments preparers work in day to day, the mobile applications clients use, and the technical escalation path sitting behind Sigma Tax Pro's support desk.
The measure of success in his role is invisibility. Systems that stay up when thousands of offices log in on the same morning. Updates that land without disrupting work in progress. Client data sitting exactly where a preparer left it. Filing season compresses close to a year of load into roughly ten weeks, which means capacity planning, tested rollback procedures, and monitoring have to be settled well before January rather than improvised in February when there is no margin left.
